Everything renters usually ask before booking a self-drive EV with us — eligibility, documents, deposits, and what happens if something goes wrong.
The minimum age for self-drive rental is 25 years.
An International Driving Permit (IDP) is required for foreign renters. EV Drive Nepal requires an official physical IDP issued or authorised by the competent organisation in the traveller's home country. Digital or online-issued IDPs are not accepted. The original home-country licence must also be presented.
To keep your handover quick and efficient, please send copies of your documents — driving licence, IDP and identification — in advance of your pickup date. The original passport and visa are inspected and verified at handover, then returned immediately. EV Drive Nepal does not retain the original passport.
A refundable security deposit is required at pickup: NPR 50,000 for Nepali renters. For foreign renters, the deposit is equivalent to USD 500; the accepted payment method and local-currency amount are confirmed before handover. This deposit is separate from the rental fee and is subject to the rental agreement.
Yes — pickup and drop-off can be arranged at the airport or another location of your choice, rather than only at our office. An additional charge applies, based on the distance between your chosen pickup and drop-off points.
If a breakdown or low battery occurs due to a genuine vehicle issue, we arrange and cover towing at no cost to you. If it results from renter negligence — such as not charging the vehicle as advised — towing and any associated costs become the renter's responsibility.
Every vehicle in our fleet is fully insured. However, the renter is responsible for the first NPR 30,000 of any damage — this reflects our insurer's minimum claim threshold and the revenue lost while a vehicle is off the road for repair. For damage exceeding NPR 30,000, we file an insurance claim and deduct that NPR 30,000 from the payout; the renter is not liable beyond this amount, provided the incident is properly documented. In the event of an accident, please contact us immediately and remain at the scene — take photographs or video, and obtain a police report where applicable. This evidence is essential to a successful insurance claim. Should an incident go unreported or undocumented, full responsibility for the damage will rest with the renter.
